What’s Involved with Life Coaching

The start of a new year is often the time when people take a long hard look at their lives, it’s a new beginining and it usually seems like a good opportunity to plan, re-evaluate and start over, but thinking and talking about change is very different from actually doing it and that’s where many people stop.  It’s easier to “continue as I am” or “I can’t do that” because of the impact they think it has on other areas of their lives, rather than to actually take the plunge and go for it.

Life coaching can aid with making sense of your situation, a qualified Life Coach will help you take your dreams and aspirations and make them a reality, but they can’t wave a magic wand and make it happen for you, you will need to work with them and here’s a few tips as to how you can make your life coaching sessions successful:

  • Be prepared – arrive at appointments having spent some time before hand working on your actions from the previous session.  Make a note of the achievements you’ve made, identify any outstanding goals and what you think you need to do to move forward.
  • Be honest – it can be difficult, we understand that, after all this is personal to you and you may be talking about all elements of your life, some areas you may not have discussed before, not even with your nearest and dearest but masking the truth will hinder the work and ultimately the results.
  • Be challenged - if it was so easy you’d be doing it already, sometimes we need to be taken out of our ‘comfort zone’ to achieve our goals.
  • Be willing – and enthusiastic about trying new ways and approaches.  You never know, it could work
  • Be open – to hearing and working with direct and honest feedback received during the sessions!
  • Be partners – we are on your side and working with us in partnership will make the sessions easier.
